About Nicole Newman
Nicole Newman is a medium, teacher, and bereaved mom living in Maui by way of Vancouver. After her son Avery died, her ability began with something far simpler than hearing a voice — communing — and it grew into a learned skill she now shares with other bereaved parents through her mediumship school, Love of Avery Kind.
Show notes
Grief can make the world feel smaller overnight, but it can also reveal a bigger reality you didn’t know how to name. From the Helping Parents Heal Conference, I sit down with Nicole Newman, a medium, teacher, and bereaved mom living in Maui, to talk about what happened after her son died and why so many people report after-death communication.
Nicole shares how her journey began with something simpler than “hearing a voice.” She calls it communing: lying down, getting quiet, asking for help, and feeling a vibration of peace that steadies a wrecked nervous system. We dig into how mediumship can be learned as a skill, how the clairs can show up as subtle shifts in mood, temperature, memory, or awareness, and why most of us miss what’s happening because we’re trained to second guess ourselves.
We also explore big ideas in grounded language: oneness, distance not mattering, and a powerful reframe of doubt and trust. Nicole explains why “closure” never fit her, and why continuation of relationship can be the real medicine for grieving parents. If you’re curious about spiritual connection, consciousness, grief healing, and practical ways to feel supported again, this conversation offers a calm, honest place to start.
If this resonates, subscribe, share it with someone who’s grieving, and leave a review so more hearts can find these stories. What’s one moment you’ve felt presence, peace, or an unexplainable sign?
Nicole Newman is a natural medium, mystic, teacher and healer whose lifelong relationship with Spirit deepened profoundly after the sudden death of her son Avery in 2013.
Following his death, Nicole immersed herself in formal mediumship training and eventually founded Love of Avery Kind, where she now teaches and supports people around the world in developing their own relationship with Spirit, consciousness and intuitive intelligence. Avery remains central to her work, and Nicole experiences their relationship as continuing beyond physical death, including an ongoing sense of co-creation with him from the Afterlife.
Her work explores mediumship as part of a much larger mystery: the continuation of consciousness, our multidimensional nature, and the extraordinary spiritual and perceptual capacities available to us as human beings. She believes these abilities are not reserved for a gifted few, but can be part of our own evolving relationship with Spirit and the Divine.
Nicole continues to study, teach and collaborate with respected mediums and teachers, including renowned UK medium Tony Stockwell. She teaches online worldwide and in person from Maui, Hawaii and Crescent Beach, British Columbia.

Welcome To Grieving Awake
Joya · 0:00Welcome to Grieving Awake. I'm your host, Joya. This is a space for conversations about loss, love, consciousness, and the mysteries that change us. Together we'll explore what grief asks of us, what it reveals, and how even in the breaking we can find a deeper way of being alive. Hello, everyone. I am coming to you live from the Helping Parents Heal Conference. Well, not live when you're listening to this. It'll be edited. I'm live right now at the Helping Parents Heal Conference with an amazing woman that I met the other day when we had readings together in the gallery. And her name is Nicole, and she's from Maui. And she's also a medium, and she's also lost a child. And so I'm really curious about exploring these mediumistic abilities, particularly after losing someone who's been really close to us. So welcome, tell us your story, your name, and let's just dive in.
Nicole · 0:56My name's
Loss That Opens The Door
Nicole · 0:57Nicole Newman. I'm originally Canadian from Vancouver, Canada, and I'm married to an American. So I live in Maui, you know, and uh and I love it. Um, and the reason I am in mediumship is because of my son uh passing. However, I was always quite intuitive and connected into spirit and often hearing spirit, seeing spirit, having um spirit experiences and psychic experiences as a kid. But it wasn't a focus, it was just there. And I never thought of training in it, um, really. You know, as I started to get older, I thought, oh, this would be really neat to develop more of my spiritual nature. Um, I had always been uh a seeker, so I'd always read everything I could on self-help and different things and Seth and all kinds of interesting books as a as a kid, but I I didn't have the desire to pursue mediumship until my son passed. Um but I was aware of what it was and I knew I needed to do it. And and so after he passed, you know, right after he passed, I started to feel his presence when I would sit quietly um in my bed feeling horrible. And then I would just like ask and say, Oh gosh, you know, I need to I need to feel better, I need help. Please help me, help me, right? I need help. And and all of a sudden I'd feel a vibration on me and I'd feel a peace come over me. And I would just feel better and I would get nourished from the spirit, you know, and I wasn't aware that of any words or thoughts or anything. I was just aware of love and just peace, right? So I don't know that I could clearly identify that as wow, I was having contact with my son, because I couldn't prove that, if you want to look at evidential, but I knew that's what it was, right? And it's also your own soul, um, as you sit quietly, uh, more of your own being coming to help you, you know, and and and help open up the energy so that you can be more receptive. Uh, and then, you know, from there I was quite happy with that because uh it it saved me so that I could get up and function and and continue on my day. So I would just sort of go back to my bedroom multiple times a day and do that and continue that connection. And I could start to feel it if I wouldn't connect um, you know, for a whole day, I could start to feel really agitated. I could even feel that my son wanted me to. I could feel like, come on, we gotta go lie down, you know, and I'd go lie down. And and you know, my nervous system, of course, like all of ours, would be completely trashed at that point. So um I needed that reset in my nervous system to get me through. And I literally did that type of thing for a couple years, uh, and and pretty much immediately started to get readings and decided to learn it. And it's this is a learned neuropathway that you can develop, right? So it's e you know, and I wasn't having mediumship in the sense of, you know, I wasn't communicating, right? I was communing. And I think every parent can do this. Every, you know, in my work now, I all often lead a meditation where that's what we do. We commune and we feel the presence and we feel better, and everybody always feels so much better after because the souls connect and they blend and they touch each other. Yeah.
Joya · 4:20Do
From Communing To Clear Messages
Joya · 4:21you feel like it's the through the process of communing that you're able to open up that channel of to communicate?
Nicole · 4:27Absolutely. Yes. Like that's the starting point. You know, you want to get settled within your own energy, you want to get your soul back in your body because we get scattered in our minds. So you want to get yourself calm, and then you feel your person, you know, you feel your person calm. You commune, you start to build that link. Um, there's a lot of ways to learn mediumship and whether it's a child or somebody else, but uh and plenty of people learn it without having a loss, also. But that's how I learned it, right? That's how I developed, and then I started to get trained and and go to school and learn it.
Joya · 5:01It seems like it opens up something in you when you go through a major loss that you're like those defenses. Well, from a neuroscience point of view, I know that it destroys the default mode network, which is what people who have mushroom journeys to do, right? So they can have a reframe of their identity. Yep. And so is this like a rewiring that happens of our neuropathways?
Nicole · 5:21Well, I don't think I know the science behind the neuro the rewiring. Yeah. What I do know is that the energies uh blend, right? And so you could look at that through a scientific lens and say, okay, we've got our atoms and we're putting them together and now we've got a different pool of atoms, right? And it's literally like this. Um, and then the more you do that, it creates uh ease of access and an ease for those atoms to go back together, you know, like that those those energies to kind of connect again. So um I I've uh proven to myself and to others that we are always connected, right? Because um, you know, I'll run an online class where somebody's half a world away and we're both connecting into my son. My son helps me um teach mediumship, actually, from the other side, and literally helps kids learn mediumship, right? From from the other side, how to communicate with their parents. Oh, it's the kid'll even come when the parent's not there to learn so that they can go back into their own environment where their parent might be learning with somebody else. Gotcha because they don't know me, right? And they'll go and this has happened a number of times, right? So but how I experience the oneness is just that, you know, I can be talking, I can feel Avery, and I can hear him telling me something, and the guy halfway around the world or lady will hear the exact same thing from him at the exact same time. So he's showing us this isn't normally how we do it, but he when we're trying to figure out can you be everywhere at once? He's like, Yes, I am. I'm in Hawaii and I'm in Vancouver, and let me show you how it's done, right? And he'll say something to me and then he'll finish the conversation over there within the next word or sentence, and there's no, you know, I mean, there's no division between geographic, right? No geographic sort of divide there. So it's um quite fascinating, actually, right? So if you look at I mean from a scientific viewpoint, you're really in the oneness, right? And we're all spirit and we're all connected to each other, right? Yeah, yeah. You know, it's uh it's it's a gateway to the soul, true learning mediumship. I mean, everyone should learn mediumship because it teaches you more about your own energetic field, who you are, what is you, and what's somebody else. And most people have gone through most of their life being inspired by spirit, being led by spirit, being guided by spirit, and they don't even know it.
Joya · 7:45Well, and the word inspired means in spirit, right? So it's like you're just reading in spirit. Good point. Yeah.
Clairs, Stillness, And Subtle Signals
Joya · 7:51And I'm curious about, okay, so when you say, like this is some sometimes my mind gets very literal. And so people used to say, like, I hear their voice, or they're right here, and I'm like, I can't see them and I'm not hearing them. But then I later realized from another channeler that I was like, oh, I am channeling, but it's just not like the movie Ghost. Like I thought it'd be like, oh, here you are. I can hug you, and you're right here. So when you say that, what do you mean by that? And how do you know? Like, what are the different ways that spirit communicates with you so you know that something's coming through that you're not making up?
Nicole · 8:23Excellent point. Because most times people are just not recognizing that that's what it is, right? So when it's profound and you hear it, and when you're when you've developed your Clares and you understand all those things, you will hear, you will see, you will have awareness of all these different ways to receive the spirit. But when you start, you're still receiving the spirit, you just don't know it, right? So you're experiencing it through a feeling or through your own emotions or your own memories, right? You'll have a you'll be just dwelling on a memory of your child. And that's because they're there and they are also uh able to access those memories and they'll be, you know, accessing things in your mind. So when you start to have memories of your kid or or of anybody, you know, it doesn't have to be a child, of course, but um, it's because they are there with you and they are actually able how how it works is you know, they're blending into our energy, so they're accessing our memory bank, our knowledge, our entire mind. So they know our mind, right? They now know our mind, right? As opposed to when they're in the body and we're in separation, they don't know it. But when they're in the oneness, they're like, I know you, you know, and honestly, they've known us for a very long time. We haven't we're having an eternal life, right? We're just in and out of the doorway, right? So um they know that. So this is why kids are like, hey, everything's fine, what's the problem, right? You know, it's it's not so bad, right? But um, so so you know, when you first are receiving mediumship, you're gonna receive it without necessarily believing it, you know. And then as you start to, if you if you work with a a teacher who can identify it for you, and I and I do find that quite often mediumship training starts too far along. You know, it's like, okay, now we're just gonna feel and connect. And it's like, well, what? All right, people are like, could you make that a little more clear? Yeah. So you gotta reverse engineer it and start at the very beginning of just the blending of the self, the soul, opening up, starting to feel gentle shifts. You might feel an energy shift of some kind, you might feel a vibration, a temperature change, a thought change, a mood change. You might feel anxiety, right? People will often receive it as anxiety because their nervous system is already trashed because they're right in stress. And and then they'll have an energy shift, and it can sometimes sort of um you know vibrate the system or activate the system. And the the only the best way to deal with that is to just sit in stillness. It's really about getting your mind still, separating yourself from the outside world a bit, getting really calm, getting into that zone of just me. Be still and no. That's it. Be still and no, and I'm just me in my mind, and I'm gonna be me in my spirit, and and getting into that you know, headspace where you can access that within yourself easily, and then you're able to start. And and quite often people are um attempting it from too much um outer influence, like they're they're too activated with the outside world, they're not uh haven't receded within themselves enough to sort of get into the stillness, and so that's why it's you know a little bit harder to access. But I really believe it's natural. Like if you look at the statistics of um uh people that have been asked, you know, do you believe in the spirit? Yeah, you know, it's 65% of Americans have had an experience. I mean, that they'll talk about, right?
Joya · 11:51Yeah, yeah, that they'll talk about. Yes.
Nicole · 11:53That means it's happening 100% of the time, and not everybody's aware of it, right?
Joya · 11:57And there's a really high percentage also of people who've lost a loved one who have had an after-death communication experience, which is really remarkable.
Nicole · 12:04It is, yeah, and it's very, very real. And um, and you know, we can have pre-incarnate. I I've met so many moms who have met their child before their child came into their body. I've heard that too. And you know, I'm currently channeling a book with my son, and they they they uh drew my attention to the fact that I had had many experiences like that with Avery prior, and I was like, well, I believe that, I know that, I remember that, but I need to know that from other people. Could you help me know that? And then within days, uh, I will run into and meet a whole bunch of moms who have had this experience. It's like, we're all doing it. It's just, you know, we're not talking about it, right?
Joya · 12:46That's why I love being here. I actually posted an Instagram reel this morning. I'm like, I feel normal. Yes, that's right. We are normal here. We're totally normal here. I feel normal. Exactly. Oh my gosh. So if someone hasn't lost a child, but they or lost anybody close to them, but they feel like they might have this ability, what are some of the signs that people can look for to notice? Like, oh, I might have a channeling ability or be open to this.
Nicole · 13:13They might notice things before they happen. They might recognize patterns in life, they might um find that they're observing experiences in life, but they're not immersed in it, maybe because they're not really um connected to that experience, you know. And they might start to um feel a vibration or feel uh different a little bit, like, gosh, you know, right now I feel a little bit inspired and I'm not sure why, or I feel really empowered and I'm not sure why. Um, and quite often we are being empowered by spirit guides and our our greater field of consciousness that is, you know, all our many friends. You think you got friends here? Wow, like the the other, you know, you're all stocked up all right on the other side. Um but but anyway, that that that presence of spirit guides will come through you and just create for you the direction you need to, like directly, like you know, they they just kind of work through you because they're actually a part of you and quite often have even been um a part of you in another time. So uh you'll you'll realize that. You might go, hmm, it's interesting how I knew to do that or I did that, or or I automatically knew how to do something. And you know, it's it's rare, but it happens, you know, often. And I had it happen plenty as a kid where you might hear something if it's really important. If you don't move out of the way, you're gonna die right now, right? Like this type of thing. Move left or step over, yeah. Yes, and spirit has saved my life many times and uh got me out of the way of very dangerous situations, and I'm very grateful for that. And I and I actually think that all of our guides are always trying to help us stay alive because we're here to have an experience and to interact and to live in relation and grow. So if you get taken out accidentally or whatever happens, you're gonna come back in and do it again. So they're trying to encourage us to to stick with the program, you know. I think in a lot of cases, if we can. But the interesting thing is that when we do die, it's like, oh, next. Like we're just not really, and I know this because of my experiences with Ave and even before when I was when when I was a kid, I was like, oh, yeah, it's not such a big deal.
Joya · 15:31Yeah, it's a big deal though, when we're here. When we're here, you know, or less of the one those that are still in the like there's the human, I say the and I'm like I live in the and space where I'm like I'm I'm in spirit and I'm also in form at this time, right? And to honor both of those things, it's like I don't want to spiritually bypass my experience. Totally. I can be in grief and in joy, right? It's like we can have the and and like maybe that's like the link to the to that liminal space and that invisible realm that we can't see, but is all around us.
Nicole · 16:00I agree. Yeah, and I think we live in a world where duality and division seems to be very popular right now, and so people think everything is this or and it isn't. It's not. None of it negates each other, it's all happening at once, and it's all true. Yeah, all true. Yeah, yeah.
Joya · 16:18My son gave me a perfect analogy, you know, to explain the oneness for people who are listening that are like, I don't understand this concept of it all being one thing. And and he was kept trying to get this through to me, and he's like, it's all one thing. All you have to do is think about me, and I'm right there next to you. I'm right here because I'm always here because it's all one thing. Yep. And I was like, Okay, explain it to me. I'm always like, explain it to me in a way that I'm gonna get it. And so he goes, Okay, so he showed me, and he I get um visuals is how I get it. Visuals and information come through. Yeah, and so he showed me like a bubble container holding a thing of bubbles, and he goes, This is the source, and then a wand dips in and he goes, and this is a little bit of the source coming out, and he goes, and now you need breath to bring it to life. So you blow, and then the bubbles form, and he goes, and they're individual now, but it's all one thing. And I was like, I got it. Like it was such an easy way to explain it.
Nicole · 17:10Wow, right? You know, you've just uh made me remember that Avery has shown me how I'm out blowing bubbles. I'm not even kidding you. This is I know, and I didn't realize that's what he meant because he was talking about thought bubbles. I'm blowing thought bubbles all over and inspiring you and everybody else to to do this and that, right? But perhaps he's also like, you know, creating other Averies. I don't know, right? I mean I just, you know, this is very possible. And I mean, have you ever met somebody where you're like, gee, your birthday is the same day as mine, and gosh, I feel like I know you, and you know what I mean? Like you have this weird, they're from the other side of the world, and you're like, I don't know about this. This is kind of strange. It's like as if you are somehow living another aspect of our greater field of consciousness.
Joya · 17:58And that's how, like, when you have this awareness of the, you know, the afterlife and the actually the real my son said, stop calling it the afterlife, it's your real life. He's like, this is just an incarnation. I'm like, oh, okay. So he's like, stop calling this your life. I'm like, okay. So,
Doubt As A Habit To Unlearn
Joya · 18:11but while we're in this body, it's like we when we can connect with that, I feel like we can, or I'll speak for myself, I look at people so much more differently. It's like we're the same substance, we're just in a little bubble right now, right? It's like I'm in my bubble, you're in your bubble, but we all come from that same source of all it is. And so is this the source, when you're talking about tapping into the source and into the oneness, it's like that's the feeling or the thought or the energy that we're tapping into.
Nicole · 18:43Yes, and I I really believe that it's just like what you say, like it's a one big oneness, and then there's individuation that comes out of it. So, you know, when we're doing mediumship, we want to tap into the individuation of a person, but we can also tap into the oneness and receive and channel all kinds of great messages from the collective. Um, and I didn't finish your other, I I realize you're asking me how you receive, but also through seeing and smelling and tasting and um, and also if you ever sit down to do mediumship, anything that comes in your awareness at that time is usually relevant, right? So you might be like, I have to look at this picture or or the clock or something like that.
Joya · 19:22So just really paying attention to these random things that you're doing in the moment.
Nicole · 19:26And the universe is conspiring for us at all times. So the whole bubble that you're sitting in is about what you're trying to perceive, right? So everywhere your mind is drawn to is relevant in some way, but we just bypass it because we the biggest thing is getting out of the um second guessing, right? Where I'm gonna doubt everything that goes through my mind. And we get that way through life, or we, you know, we get taught and it it's just a pathway, it's a it's a habit, right? So getting out of that and just saying yes to your life and yes to your perceptions and whatever, however it comes, you know, the more purely you can just accept and allow those perceptions to be real and to say it out loud or feel it within yourself if you're doing it on your own, um, the closer you get into that proper headspace where you're just in the space with the person, right? In that space, because whatever we doubt, it's like an immediate kickback. You're out. Right? Like you pull yourself out, right? It's like you pull away from the spirit and become in your conscious mind, whereas your conscious mind's the doubting mind. It's so dumb. Our conscious mind is so dumb.
Joya · 20:35It's like you don't know anything, be quiet. Just be quiet.
Speaker · 20:37Just go.
Joya · 20:38Little Nikki, little Nikki, I call her like little Nikki, go sit in the corner. Sometimes I call mine Stephen King because it's like I'm like, calm down, Steve. It's all good. Oh, that's good. I love that. You know, my son taught me something about doubt that I want to share with you too. And I shared it with my audience before. It's in my book, too. Um, because I also doubted myself so much. And I was like, how do I know these experiences are real? How do I know that I'm just not having a neurochemical reaction to my own inner state when I'm asking you to hug me and I feel peace? Like, how do I know I'm not conjuring that up? And he's like, You gotta trust yourself, you gotta trust yourself, you gotta trust yourself. And I finally was like, again, I'm like, explain it to my dumb self who will, I'm just in this human form. Explain it in a way I will understand. And he said, Okay. And he said, Trust is the foundation of every action you ever take, ever. It's because you're trusting something. And he said, So if you're in doubt, you're trusting in doubt. And you're trusting in limitation more than you're trusting in possibility.
Nicole · 21:33Oh, I love that.
Joya · 21:33And that completely reframed me for so every time I would feel the doubt come up, again, I'm like, I do not trust doubt. I trust possibility. I trust spirit. I trust you, Weston. I'm like, I trust you. And that really was a game changer for me.
Nicole · 21:47100%. Yeah. And you know, what's really neat about that is when we have a kid in spirit or so, or like a, you know, somebody who's very close to us, we aren't afraid of the spirit because they're there. And I don't think I would have ever entered. Into this work or this development, if if I didn't have somebody that I felt would help me, you know, that I could trust. Even though I had spirit guides and stuff, I needed my people from here to make me feel safe. And I and I also you're like, well, if you're there, I can be there. Like, you know, I'm not so worried about it because you're there. But but uh you need to trust it, right? And it helps us trust it if our child is there or if our father or you know, somebody that's our husband or whatever, somebody that's really close to us. Um, it gives us that safety, right? Which is what I needed. I needed it because I had Astral projected a lot as a kid, and I was a little like, I don't know if I want to go back to that. That's a bit of a intense sketchy quality. Yeah. I don't know that's what I need to do right now with my so now you're teaching other people how to do this.
Joya · 22:51You have
Building A Practice And A School
Joya · 22:52a school or a center. Yeah. So tell us about that.
Nicole · 22:55Love of Avery kind, named after my son Avery. So um I have a physical center in Crescent Beach, which is right near Vancouver. It's like seven miles across the U.S. border into Canada, right? It's on the beach, it's beautiful, it's ocean front medium ship school, right? So you get to enjoy nature and and be there. Um, and it's just a small place, but we rent a bigger hall across the street, and then you know, accommodations are nearby. And then I also uh I I have lived in and out of I've lived in Westor for a lot of my life, which is two hours north. So I also teach up there a little bit, just very small stuff, you know. I I've just sort of gotten into it more up there, and in Maui, which is where I spend my winters. I'm married to an American, I've I'm half American now, and uh, you know, we live in Quihe and um I've run retreats in all the locations and will continue to and teach in Wailea, which is a beautiful, again, a place I rent there when I'm teaching is a nice ocean view place where you get to enjoy, you know, the because the natural environment helps charge you and tune you into the spirit, like it's like it brings you away from the it's much better than learning in a busy city environment, I find.
Joya · 24:15Definitely, yes. Nature is so healing.
Continuation Over Closure In Grief
Joya · 24:17And how do you feel like this helps with grief?
Nicole · 24:21Oh, it's it's it was my saving grace. Uh, because uh, you know, without the knowledge, the evidence, the sureness that your child is still alive in another dimension, uh, the world's pretty bleak, right? And it's pretty depressing. And I can see, you know, I often meet parents who have not discovered mediumship uh for many years, and it's it's really unfortunate, right? So for me, it was everything. You know, I I always had known that there was more because of experiences I'd had as a kid, but for me, I needed to be sure to know beyond a shadow of a doubt. I needed to continue that relationship. So people talk about, well, you need closure. I'm like, I don't need closure. What are you talking about? I need continuation. I am continuing my relationship with my child. There is no closure, right? This is I'm I'm I'm close, I've closed the grief. I am not in grief, right? I'm 13 years into this, though, right? So um I definitely had grief for many years, right? And uh and I went through a variety of stages of it, up, down, all around. And there's a lot of different things that will uh instigate the grief to wave and come in and out of your your emotional system. But uh it's to me, it is it is the answer, you know. Uh I I had a brother die when um quite a few years prior to that. And my mom went to grief counseling and she just couldn't get much out of it, right? And then somehow she found a medium. The the grief counselor said, I maybe you need this, you know, and she went to a medium and that really helped. Right. It really helped us all. The one thing that happens with mediumship is, you know, you might see a medium, make a connection into your child, but then if you allow the doubt to come back when you're no longer in that headspace, right? When you're back in regular 3D and you start to second guess, well, could she have Googled that or could she have do you really think this is what we're doing with our lives? Like it's insane. Like we're but it's the human experience. We are used to doubting, right? So we will um find ways to discredit something, you know, even after it's happened. And I think this happens a lot. So if you stay in it and you keep going back to the well and you keep communing with your child and you develop a personal continuation in your relationship, um, you heal. I agree. And if you if you go once, you heal a little bit. But if you let yourself slip back into doubt and depression, um you know, it it is a much more difficult path. So for me, it it and it's not just the words, it is the vibration of their soul-touching mind, right? Of his soul-touching mind. So, you know, mediumship is is judged by a lot of different things, but one of the things that is unequivocally very healing is when you feel the essence of your child, and when it comes, when that feeling, the the two bubbles, your soul and their soul, blend, this is the healing. So the words are a little empty, even though they can be very profound, and you go, Oh my gosh, that's so true. You must, you know, it feels very um uh confirming. But if you can feel the essence of the kid with you, it's it takes a load. And the child is able at that point to energetically take back with him a lot of your pain, if you can believe that. So I have had spirit come into my soul and to other people's souls that I've worked with, and literally people have said it's like a hand comes in, grabs it, and takes it, right? And it can't just happen, um, it can just happen any old time, but it you generally we're not aware of it, and and often it takes um a special blending of energy through people working with you and this type of thing. So if your own energy field isn't prepared or opened, or you don't have that kind of guidance already in your own field of consciousness, working with a medium or working with a healer and and having that energetic uh communion will often take with it, as it leaves, the grief. That explains a lot. That's the healing, right? And that's the part that is not always discussed in mediumship, but that's what's going on.
Joya · 28:35Yeah, I've never heard that before, and I love that, and it makes so much sense to my own personal experience and what I've been going through. I bet. Yeah, yeah.
Nicole · 28:42And as a healer, I'm sure you're really expensive.
Joya · 28:45Yeah, and so aware of what goes on inside of my body. I'm like so aware of what's going on inside of this space, right? That it's like, yeah. But even so, I doubt it. And so that's so interesting that that's just, I think, maybe just a part common part. And I've and I also realized too recently that the um, you know, especially in the West, particularly in the West, how we always escape to the mind, like we're all up in our heads and all up in our mind. And that my hyper rational mind is actually a trauma response. I read that and I was like, oh yeah, I escaped from my body by going into my mind. But in grief, for me, it was the grief was what brought me back into my body, that it was like, I can't escape this feeling. There's nowhere to go to escape this feeling. There's nothing I can do to escape this feeling other than honor it and be in it. And it changed me. And actually, I would say it didn't change me. It's exactly what you just said that communion with spirit, with my son. Yes. And I didn't realize that he's like sh I when you were saying that I could picture him just like carrying these Santa sacks full of grief, like back to the other side to transmute it and take your sorrow. That's right. Yeah, that's beautiful, isn't it?
Nicole · 29:51Yeah, it's it's amazing. And I I've had it happen to me, you know, before my son even died when I was a kid and I had trauma. Um one time it was too much for me to hold, and I was just like, I don't know how to do this, you know. And I I lied on the beach and literally like a white uh a spirit came, landed on me, and took it. Wow. And I was like, oh, it was gone. I was back to my normal, miserable 14-year-old self or whatever. You know, I mean, not you know, I was just back to normal um headspace, again, pretty much. I still had the memory, but I didn't have the trauma. Wow. Which again, you know, we're approaching so many things from the cerebral mind with therapy and things, and it really is an energy. That's why energy healing is like crime.
Joya · 30:39Yeah, just the talk, the talk therapy, I think, in a lot of ways re wounds you because you're just talking about it all the time and keeping it alive. Totally keeping it alive, processing it and letting it move through you, and like you said, the allowing something that is not us to offer healing. Yes, yeah.
Nicole · 30:57Let carry my burden, just like what we would, you know, do what we were taught in if you ever went to Sunday school, you know, like um God, like let God carry your burden. I mean, the spirit wants to carry your burden. The the angelic realm, the spiritual realm, your guides, they are there to help you. It's it's it's how it's built, it's how we're built.
Joya · 31:16Yeah. Oh,
Final Thanks And Next Steps

Nicole · 31:38Totally. It's very natural, it's very safe, it's it's what we are. We are spirit. Beautiful. Thank you. Thank you. I appreciate it.
